🛍️ From Neighborhood to Nationwide

Q. Komal, when someone asks you what Dukangram is – what’s your go-to answer at a wedding or family gathering?
Answer: I usually say, "It’s like if Zepto and your local kirana shop had a baby – that’s Dukangram!" People laugh, then ask if we deliver rasgullas. (We do, by the way.)

Q. What inspired you to create a platform that doesn’t rely on warehouses like other grocery apps?
Answer: Honestly, I looked around and saw perfectly good stores struggling while big apps were building massive warehouses. I thought, “Why reinvent the wheel when you can upgrade the local cart?”

Q. Most people want scale and control – you chose community and local impact. Why?
Answer: Because impact is the new profit. Also, my local sabziwala gives better business advice than any MBA professor. True story.

⚙️ Building Tech That Feels Human

Q. What was the biggest tech challenge you faced in the early days of Dukangram?
Answer: Convincing shopkeepers that an app could bring them more customers than sitting at the gate shouting "Aloo le lo!" But seriously, UX for non-tech folks was our Everest.

Q. Your platform integrates local shopkeepers—how did you earn their trust?
Answer: By showing up with chai and patience. And once they realized we weren’t trying to replace them with robots, they were all in.

Q. Did you ever walk into a store and get mistaken for a customer when you were actually there to onboard them? Be honest!
Answer: Every single time! One uncle even offered me a biscuit and said, “Beta, mummy ko bhejna next time.” I still laugh about it.

💡 Hustle, Humor & Hope

Q. One quirky or funny moment that only a Dukangram founder would understand?
Answer: A shopkeeper once asked if he could send his daily horoscope with every order. Said it would improve “customer loyalty.” We didn’t say no!

Q. What’s the one line you tell yourself on days when things don’t go your way?
Answer: “Rome wasn’t built in a day, but my WiFi sure crashes in a second.” Keeps me grounded and giggling.

Q. A compliment from a customer or vendor that made all the stress worth it?
Answer: A vendor once said, “Aap ne toh mujhe WhatsApp se Shopify bana diya!” I framed that one in my heart.

Q. If Dukangram were a person, how would you describe their personality?
Answer: Desi at heart, techie in the brain, and full of jugaad. Think your cool cousin who can fix a phone and bargain for mangoes.

🚀 What’s Next for Dukangram

Q. How do you see Dukangram growing in the next 2 years?
Answer: We want to be in every tier-2 and tier-3 city, empowering lakhs of stores. And maybe have our own sticker pack on WhatsApp – priorities!

Q. Do you think the next big wave in commerce is hyper-local or hyper-global?
Answer: Hyper-local, 100%. People love fast delivery, but they love familiar faces more. Dukangram brings both.

Q. If someone reading this wants to launch their own impact-driven startup—what would you say to them?
Answer: Do it. Start with chai, WiFi, and a dream. Don’t wait to “have it all figured out”—just figure out the next step.
